This is the story of the summer “Oxford experience” from Missouri Southern preceded by a whirlwind tour. Hopefully we will find internet access on our travels and (hopefully) I’ll have lots of pretty pictures to upload.
If you’re trying to play “where’s Waldo” with us here’s my rough schedule.
June 24, 25 – Cologne (and environs)
June 26 – Hannover with friends
This is where the three musketeers meet to fly to Croatia, wait – make that Venice
June 27, 28 – Venice, Italy
June 29, 30, July 1 – Dubrovnik, Croatia
July 2 – unsure, we may travel by way of either Korcula or Mostar
July 3, 4 – Split (yes, still in Croatia)
July 5 – work on getting back to Venice, from there the group disbands
July 6 – get to London
July 7 – Oxford by noon. Let the summer semester begin.
July 7 through 26 – Oxford program, “British Castles and Fortifications”
July 28 - return home
As you can see I’m using the excuse of study abroad to do a little extra traveling. I don’t know why I like to travel. Maybe I love being hot or cold or tired, hungry or dirty – which is what a lot of travel is. Maybe it’s because I have to see it myself. The words and pictures I get from other people are not always enough – I want to see it for me. Maybe it’s because of the shock value. I think it’s utterly hysterical when people try to talk me out of going somewhere because they, “would never do something like that.”
